This two-day workshop cum fieldtrip in Tanzania aimed at examining the historical trading routes between Asia and Africa across the Indian Ocean, and various contemporary linkages, Political Landscapes of Development, and Soft Power and New Spaces. After the meeting, they conducted fieldtrip to China Agricultural Research Demonstration Centre, Sisal Plantation at PeiyaPeiya, Sino-Tanzania Friendship Hospital. Conversation with Chinese textiles importers and Tanzanian electrical retailer were also arranged. This event was co-organized by the Institute and Inter-Asia Initiative at Yale University and led by Professor Helen F. Siu, Yale University and the University of Hong Kong and Professor Mike McGovern, Yale University.
